We have recently commissioned this beautiful and curious creature from Kazayne of KIS Art and would like your help in giving her a name. She belongs to a group of sea-dwelling beasts called nightmanglers. Kazayne was thoughtful enough to add some information on these aquatic fiends to go with the art piece. We hope the blurb below will help spur your thoughts and creativity.
Deep sea creatures, the Nightmangler will be drawn to the ocean’s surface if there is a particularly wretched soul nearby. They use their lures to hypnotize their victims to their mouths, which are full of thousands of needle teeth. Their ghastly, wailing whickers are your only warning.
However, there are some who say that Nightmanglers are souls of the dead lost at sea, and that they will guide others back ashore so that they may not share the same fate. Those that claim such are noted to have good reputations and kind hearts, so it is speculated that Nightmanglers may simply take mercy on those with pure souls.
We also asked Kazayne to share with us some of her background as an artist.
I have been doing art my whole life. I cannot remember a time when I didn’t draw or paint or do some kind of arts. I have always been drawn to the Japanese cartoon art style known as manga/anime and, more recently, Korean comics. My style has been heavily influenced by these, but it is only recently that I am finding my style, which leans more towards the creepy and the fantastical. Digital has become my medium of choice because you don’t need a lot of room for it, but I still enjoy drawing on paper and painting with acrylic.
